Project Overview
It was such a privilege to work with the staff of Murhur National School to create their new website. This is the national school that I went to back in the 1980’s and the project was made even more special by the fact that my daughter just started in Junior Infants this year.
The previous website has been created by another past pupil – Alan Groarke and it had held up for over 10 years – great design endures. I had the complete support of the staff and principal, Ms. Fogarty in redesigning this website – the brief was for fun and colour and that was a joy for me to work with.
Seeing all the wonderful supportive, inclusive and creative facilities and activities in the school, it was such a privilage to get the opportunity to showcase all the school has worked hard to offer.
Project Elements
Brand Update
As with all older school websites, the branding tends to be a crest that was designed a long time ago with no design files to work from. My work here was to simple re-draw the artwork, keeping the crest as it is but enabling it to be used in many different formats for the school.
Website Design
While the old website was still being updated regularly, the main content, style and navigation had fallen out of line with the progress the school has made. The key for me was to make navigation as easy as possible while still keeping the element of fun. Using colour defined areas to aid movement through areas helped to achieve this.
